Netflix ‘You’ Season 3: Plot & 13 New Cast Members Parts Revealed

Joe fu**ing Goldberg is back. Well, almost. Set to hit Netflix for a third season in 2021 with relatively an entire new cast, the showrunners have released who every new character will be and details into how they will fit into the show. And better yet, they have revealed who will be playing the mystery girl from the season 2 finale’s closing scene, where we learn she will be the object of Joe’s new obsession.
Moreover, the original co-creators Sera Gamble and Greg Berlanti will be sticking around for season 3 as executive producers and ten more episodes. As a result, the show will most likely have a similar tone and structure as the former, plus lots of unexpected twists and turns. The first episode is reportedly titled “And They Lived Happily Ever After” and is written by showrunner Sera Gamble and Mairin Reed.
Season 3 ‘You’ Plot Focus
The two leads Joe Goldberg and Love Quinn, played by Penn Badgley and Victoria Pedretti (Haunting of Hill House), will be returning, but this time in the suburbs to raise their daughter together. We can expect the new season to shed light on how the couple will navigate life following their murderous confessions, Joe’s loose ends like Ellie (Jenna Ortega), the unpredictable journey of parenthood, and the death of Love’s twin brother.
Joe and Love’s Differences Illuminated
Before the official announcement of the show’s third season, Badgley mentioned the unique way fans would see Pedretti’s character Love in the new season compared to Joe. Badgley noted, even though they both have killed, Joe and Love are quite different. Elaborating, he goes on to say: “[Love] doesn’t appear to be the same kind of person [as Joe], she doesn’t appear to be the same kind of predator, she doesn’t appear to be the same kind of, you know … “ he began to say in the interview, though he quickly stopped talking. Hence, their differences and revealing new layers of Love’s character may be what set’s them apart.

But besides developments between the two leads, like navigating Joe and Love’s killing chronicles and raising their newborn, they now need to tackle living in a tight-knit suburb filled with plenty of inquiring neighbors. Therefore, out of the 13 new cast members, Love’s mother Dottie (Saffron Burrows), will now be a series regular, returning determined to pour her love and attention into Love and her new grandchild after the death of her son.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’s Prudence, played by Tati Gabrielle, will play Marrienne, a smart, no-nonsense librarian who does not let much get by her. A perceptive observer of the neighborhood denizens, Marienne is too savvy to be taken by the patrons’ privilege and oblivious entitlement. Although, underneath her sensible and buttoned-up exterior, Marienne is hiding personal struggles that continue to set her back while trying to create a better life for herself and her young child.
Dylan Arnold (Halloween) plays Theo, a wise and perceptive but vulnerable/troubled college student with a tense and complicated relationship with his stepfather. He tends to get tangled up in his loved ones’ problems, get caught up in his own controlled substances and risky behavior.
The most anticipated reveal, Natalie—Joe’s next-door neighbor and the subject of his growing fascination—is played by Michaela McManus (The Village). Her teased introduction makes it safe for use to assume that Joe has not quite found what he’s looking for yet. Therefore, Natalie is a professional and social success, married to a powerful man. She sees through the artificial, Stepford-Esque vibe that surrounds her. Nevertheless, beneath her wry exterior, she leads a secret life. A life that Joe is willing to work hard to learn more about.
Shannon Chan-Kent (Another Life) plays Kiki, a dedicated member of the cliquish “mean-girl” friend group named Sherry’s. Kiki is a mother, wife, and life coach who embraces a life of entitlement, enjoying lengthy gossip sessions at the local café and going to mid-day fitness classes.
Ben Mehl (The Good Wife) plays Dante, another librarian, dedicated family man with a husband and two stepchildren; he also wishes to expand his family. Additionally, a veteran, his eyesight was damaged, and he loves to help his friends with their children.
Christopher Sean (Days of Our Lives) plays Brandon. He is Kiki’s husband, who fortunately earned his riches in his mid 20’s as a tech investor, and now a stay-at-home dad for his kids.
Chris O’Shea (Madam Secretary) plays Andrew, a doting member of Sherry’s cliquish inner circle. A fit stay-at-home dad, Andrew is consistently tuned in to the latest town gossip.
Mackenzie Astin (Homeland) plays Gil. A mild-mannered geology professor is kind, friendly, and sincerely good-hearted if a bit vanilla and gullible.
Bryan Safi (9-1-1, Desperados) plays Jackson. Andrew’s sarcastic husband; they have a happy, loving marriage. Despite Jackson’s high-powered job as a tech attorney, he has managed to stay humble.
Mauricio Lara plays Paulie, a friend of Young Joe. Savvy with hard-earned smarts beyond his years, Paulie attempts to help his friend toughen up and negotiate the harsh world of the Boys Home.
Jack Fisher (NCIS, Agents of Shield) plays Young Joe Goldberg. Seen in flashbacks to a Boy’s Home where he is bullied mercilessly, Young Joe is sensitive and susceptible to influence.
Ayelet Zurer (Angels & Demons, Daredevil) plays Dr. Chandra. A stylish, curt, but extremely seasoned couple’s therapist who has every intention of getting to the bottom of her patients’ issues.
