The Humor of 'Breaking Bad': Best Moments From All Five Seasons
By: Domonique Cox-Salberg

Breaking Bad (2008) is not only one of the best dramas ever written, but the show’s prowess expands into some of the best comedic moments on television, as well. Everyone from the top-billed stars to the supporting characters lends their comedic skills perfectly and with confidence. Though, what primarily sets the show’s humor apart from others is that it genuinely is a surprise when and how it appears in the story given the subject matter—creating a novel experience.
The show is dark, gritty, and often depressing—yet the writers skillfully bring lightness to the content surrounding its suburban high-school chemistry teacher turned drug-dealing-murderous-child-poisoning-protagonists.Vince Gilligan devised an amazing show that shifted from drama to comedy so radically—and still seamlessly. Ultimately, constructing a nuanced journey of humanity’s struggle between right and wrong is some of the best storytelling. Therefore, this article takes a look back at the Breaking Bad moments that were brilliantly not so bleak.
Season 1
1.) Cow House

2.) Walt quitting the car wash.

3.) Tuco beats his own man to death for practically no reason.

Season 2
4.) ‘4 Days Out’ episode when Jesse (Aaron Paul) dumps the last/gallons of their water on the fire instead of using the fire extinguisher.

5.) Jesse suggesting Walt be the ‘the sacrificial lamb’.
Jesse: “Okay? You should be like, all sacrificial, jumping on a grenade, yo.”
Walt: “Oh, so my life is not the priority here because I’m gonna be dead soon anyway. That’s the point?”
Jesse: “Uh, yeah.” [scoffs]

6.) Hank meeting Saul for the first time.

Season 3
7.) Walt throws a pizza onto his roof.

9.) Jesse getting followed by Hank and delivering the best ‘bitch!’ in the series.

Season 4
11.) Hanks “Eye of the Tiger”

12.) Ted fails.

13.) “Did you just bring a bomb into a hospital?”

Season 5
14.) Walt’s meet-up with Lydia for the names of Mike’s men.
Walt: “So you put that list in my hands and in your mind, I immediately just murder you, just right here in this restaurant?”
Lydia: No. Not right here.
Walt: “Right here in this public place, immediately?”
Lydia: “That’s not what I…”

15.) Saul suggesting that Walt kill Pinkman.
Saul: “I mean, Pinkman’s like a bad penny. Sooner or later, he’ll turn up. I’m wondering what you wanna do when he does.
Walt: Jesse is upset about the boy. I just need to explain to him why that had to happen.
Saul: Okay, but say, you know, just for the sake of argument, the kid’s not in the mood for a nuanced discussion of the virtues of child poisoning. His plans are running more towards stabbing you to death with a pointed stick.

16.) Huell’s expression when he sees Jessie on Hank’s phone is everything.
17.) “The two best hit-men west of the Mississippi.”
